CHARGES OF FORGERY
Frank Albert Choldcroft, an electrical operator, aged 23, Jvaj; sentenced to twelve months1 reformative detention by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) in the Supreme Court today, on each of two charges of forgery. He pleaded not guilty to the first charge on March 26 and guilty to the second on April 30, but today reversed his plea on the first count. His Honour said the offences were particularly mean. The prisoner had had one chance given to him by Borstal detention, and could not have another quite so favoi.rable; but the Court did not intend to impose a heavy sentence. Choldcroft's youth was one reason why it was not desirable or necessary to impose s heavy term. The sentences would be concurrent.
Mr. W. R. Birks appeared for the Crown.
