A FURTHER INCREASE

Movements in the Reserve Bank statement ot asset? and liabilities tor the week ended April 28," compared with returns for last week, show a further increase by £432,368, the total being £20,515,776—1a5t week's increase was £547.613 over that of the week before. At April 29, 1940 sterling exchange was shown at £13,848,406. The bank-note issue declined by £47,873, and at -£21,853,928 this week compares with £17.945,240 as at April 29 last year. Increases are shown in demand liabilities to the State, banks, and other liabilities. Advances to the State for purposes other than marketing are unchanged at £15,500,000, against £19,360,000 at this time last year.
