AREA ACTIVITIES
Kclburn. —There was an attendance of 70 at the last evening parade of the Kelburn Home Guard. A route march was held, after which Mr. H. McGill gave a lecture on the grenade. He appealed to other members of the unit who had any specialised knowledge in military matters to come forward and tell their colleagues about it. These lectures are a popular feature of the unit's activities, and are doing much to develop interest in the organisation's operations. During the weekend those attending the n.c.o. class had practical training in field operations. The next parade will be held on Wednesday, instead of on the usual Thursday. Members are asked to study at home the system of semaphore signalling as issued to them separately.
