MINISTER FAREWELLED
A farewell social was recently tendered to the Rev. Colin Mackenzie, 8.A.. and Mrs. Mackenzie by the congregation of St. David's Church, Petone. Mr. Mackenzie is to proceed overseas as a chaplain to the forces. Councillor H. Green, who presided, emphasised the great loss to St. David's. The speakers included the Rev. D. P. Scott, Moderator of the Wellington, Presbytery, the Rev. I-I. Kenney, of the Petone Anglican Church, representing the Petone Ministers' Fraternal, the Rev. .7. Thomson Macky, of Knox Church, Lower Hull, and the Rev. J, P. Lopdell, of St. Stephen's Church, Lower Hutt. Mr. J. Ash, chairman of the Petone Central School Committee, also spoke in appreciative terms of Mr, Mackenzie's Bible in schools work. Mr. A. E. Carver, session clerk, presented Mr. Mackenzie with a substantial cheque, and Miss Allen gave a parting gift to Mrs. Mackenzie.
