NATIONAL SAVINGS

AN EASTER APPEAL

EVERYONE CAN HELP

The Easter season is being made the occasion for a special appeal for National Savings towards the Dominion's war effort. The people of New Zealand can make, and are making, their contribution to the victory of the democracies by three chief means: by actual membership in the armed forces, by assisting in the production arid transport of food, war materials, and other supplies required here and overseas, and by contributing to the war finances, by gift or loan. In the last respect, the lending of money, every New Zealand resident can help, in proportion to his or her means. The National Savings scheme affords the opportunity for such help to be given in the

simplest way

The Easter appeal on funds reminds the public of the cruelties which have been inflicted by the enemy upon the innocent, in Britain and the devastation wrought among churches and charitable institutions —an aspect of the war which has aroused world-wide indignation and disgust, and which has gone far to harden the determination of democratic peoples to put an end, once and for all. to the disgrace that has fallen upon the world.

National Savings will help not only to defeat the oppressors, but to relieve the sufferers.
