PLUNKET SOCIETY

HIGHER SUBSIDY

INCREASED CAR ALLOWANCES

The Minister of Health (Mr. Nordmeyer) announced today that the Government had recently decided to increase the subsidy which it had been paying to the Plunket Society.

The subsidy of £125 in respect of each Plunket nurse had been increased by 5 per ce.nt., said the Minister, and this would be ante-dated to October 1. 1940.

In addition, it had been decided to increase, as from April 1 (this month), the amount which the Government contributed towards the car expenses of Plunket nurses. For every Plunket Society car, the Government would contribute £20 a year instead of the £10 formerly paid, and an additional grant of £20 would also be made to each nurse who used her own car on the society's work.
