KILBIRNIE AGAIN
MERCANTILE LEAGUE GAME
As a finishing touch to a successful season, Kilbirnie, winners Of the senior grade in the Wellington Cricket Association's competitions, made no match of it In their game with representatives of the Mercantile League at Kilbirnie on Saturday. With the loss of only four wickets, Kiibirnie won by an innings and 90 runs, Mercantile League scoring 52 and 63.
The highest score in the League's first innings was 16, the first three wickets falling for 6 runs. J. Ashenden, New Zealand representative, took five wickets for 20, and Buss three for 3 in 2.3 overs. Kilbi'rnie passed Mercantile League's score with only one wicket down, and 'at 205 for four wickets after W. Burton had reached a sound and hard-hit century. Wilson, the captain, contributed 08 in quick time, hitting three 6's after tea. Mercantile League's second knock Was almost a repetition 'of the first, except that two men passed 20. Wilson improved on his "first Innings bowling average of two for 20 by taking four for 9. Allen, not used in the first innings, took three for 24. Details:— MERCANTILE LEAGUE. First Innings.
