Turkish newspapers, commenting on the Balkan situation, are repeating that the formation of a Balkan bloc, as advised bj Mr. Churchill, would safeguard the peace of the. Balkans.

German troops in Bulgaria, and it is stated that .Turkey will not be passive if Bulgaria pretends to cede the right of passage to German troops under pressure of superior force. One newspaper says: "In such an event Germany will be considered an aggressor and Bulgaria an accomplice." It is also pointed out in Turkey that, even, in the event of a German victory Bulgaria would lose her independence.

It is reported from Turkey that a final meeting between officers of the British military mission representing the Middle East Command and the Turkish general staff has been held at Ankara.
