DAYLIGHT SAVING

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —As it has been reported that various electrical supply authorities are finding difficulty in meeting the demand for power, may I suggest that the position would be eased to a great extent if the Government, as a war measure, gave immediate consideration to the question of extending the present half-hour's daylight saving to the full hour, and also, perhaps, of having it operate throughout the whole year instead of the summer months only.

I feel sure that the Government's decision to agree to such a proposal would prove extremely popular, at least with the urban population of New Zealand, and the resultant economies would be a direct contribution to our war effort.—l am, etc.,

FULL-HOUR,
