HONOUR TO SMALL TOWN
.The flying of National Savings flags in the leading towns in postal districts in New Zealand has created great interest. All towns now are striving to earn the distinction of flying the flag as a signal of leadership regarding percentage of National Savings depositors to population. A fortnight ago Waikaka, in the Invercargill district, led the .Dominion with 53 per cent. Its percentage has now been increased to 62, a handsome increase and sufficient to retain pride of leadership for Invercargill but not for the Dominion. The town that leads the Dominion today is Alfredton, a little country settlement, near Eketahuna in the Wairarapa, which runs into the premier position with 70.9 per cent, of National Savings depositors to population.
