IN order to release male staff for military duties, the Public Service Commissioner is inviting applications from women, preferably between the ages of twenty years and forty years, for clerical duties for the period of the war. "Vacancies are most urgent in Wellington, Hamilton, Gisborne, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Masterton, and Invercargill, but applications for other centres will also bo welcomed. Remuneration will be according to age, qualifications, and experience. Salary for suitable appointees will probably commence at £145 or £165 per annum in special cases. Where an employee is dependent on her own earnings a cost of living allowance of £13 per annum is paid if over eighteen years of age.
