AUCKLAND, February 13

To a charge that on January 10 he negligently drove a motor-car in Symonds Street, thereby causing bodily injury to Leonard "Nixon Bean, aged 71, who1 was alighting from a tram-, car, a,plea of guilty was entered by Daniel McKenney, aged 40, motor truck driver, employed by the Salvation Army. He was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.

A further charge of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a truck was denied by McKenney, and the hearing on this charge was held over.

The police said that Bean was 31 days in hospital. A taxi driver, accompanied by a detective, who was on the tram, pursued and overtook the truck nearly a mile away.
