Special forecast for Wellington:—

Light variable breezes. Cloudy in the morning; fine in the afternoon, with mild temperatures.

The further outlook is for weather continuing settled and for winds light or moderate.

The general forecast for the Dominion is for winds moderate to fresh in the far north, elsewhere light or moderate breezes, mainly from an easterly quarter, the weather continuing fair to fine over most of the country. There will be considerable morning low cloud in eastern districts, however, with fog or light drizzle in places; temperatures rising. . In the last 24 hours a tropical cyclone has moved slowly southward in the vicinity of Lord Howe Ifilacnd, but pressure has remained high over New Zealand. Winds have been mainly from a southerly quarter. They were fresh at times over the Southland coast and in the far north, but otherwise were moderate. There were occasional showers yesterday in Southland, with some scattered drizzle this morning on the North Canterbury coast, but the weather has been otherwise fair to fine. Skies have now become overcast north of Auckland. Temperatures have been moderate.

The weather was fine and clear in both Wellington and Christchurch yesterday and cloudy to overcast in Auckland and Dunedin. In Wellington there was only a light and variable breeze and 13 hours of bright sunshine were recorded. The maximum and minimum temperatures were 68 and 53.8 degrees.
