SAND NUISANCE
Complaints of the sandy nuisance at Worser Bay are supported by other correspondents. "Ratepayer" writes: "The grader did a wonderful piece of work in half an hour by removing a fair share of the seaward side bank of the parade and depositing the sand a little higher to allow the first northerly wind to also do a wonderful work. Today (Wednesday) we have nearly all the footpath covered with sand, and the gutters on the south side have not been attended to for over a month. Many improvements have been carried out in our various bays—why not Worser Bay, one of Wellington's most; popular?" Albert Comfort also writes: "The residents of this district are at present being forced to walk over heaps of sand on the footpath—the gutters and drains are blocked, and the council is doing nothing to remedy this state of affairs. The position has not been improved by the absence of street lighting, and frequent and urgent messages to the authorities concerned have had no effect. The ratepayers of this locality have exhausted their patience and now demand that something be done to terminate this state of affairs."
