HOLLYWOOD'S LEADING MAN.
A dearth of able and .presentable actors is occasioning no little consternation in the cinema city, and as a result a leading man goes without vacation or rest and often skips a meaL Melvyn Douglas is an example He . learned the hard way, in stock companies, Broadway, and eventually films. Last year he starred in four major productions, while the average actress stops at two. At the end of the year he started on "This Thing Called Love," co-starring with Rosalind Russell for Columbia. When he finished this film he was immediately required by another studio. He won Loretta Young in "He Stayed for Breakfast," and reported at Culver city the following day to start the process all over again with Myrna Loy. In his time, Douglas has appeared with most of the great screen sirens. He is only too ready to give everything in his power to aid the movie industry.
