VICTORY QUEEN CARNIVAL

After careful deliberation the committee has chosen {he first princess to support the Commerce Queen in the Victory Queen Carnival. She is Miss Amos, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Amos, Wellington, arid her nomination is being sponsored by the manufacturers in Wellington.

Miss Amos was educated at Downhurst Collegiate Schoqi, London, and Marsden • School, Wellington, where, until 1934, she was a pupil, and then for two years was assistant kindergarten mistress there.

Besides winning her tennis blazer, she is interested in dramatic art and music. After returning to New Zealand, she continued her musical education begun in London, and obtained her L.R.S.M. in 1940, and also won the De Mauny Challenge Cup for open pianoforte solo last year. She. is also a student of the 'cello. , At a meeting of the manufacturers' committee, held on Friday afternoon, the following officers were elected:— Chairman, Mr. Stephens; secretary, Mr. Morgan; treasurer, Mr. Cavanagh; committee, Messrs, A. Jackson, A. Seed, and Zemba.

Early this week further meetings will be held, and the name of the Commerce Queen and other princesses will be announced.
