A WEEK OF CARNIVAL
On Monday there will begin a gala week, organised by the Hutt Valley R.S.A., to provide funds to build clubrooms for the association. The events, will take place in the Hutt Recreation Grounds, which, with their efficient lighting system, *are perfectly suited for evening entertainments on an elaborate scale. The southern end of the grounds has been set apart for sideshows of various kinds, including many which were popular at the Centennial Exhibition, and for stalls.
. The gala will be opened by the Mayor at 7.30 p.m. on Monday, and the evening will be devoted to an athletic sports meeting. The full programme for the carnival is set out in the advertising columns today.
Among' other attractions for the week will be a display, at the Horticultural Hall, of relics of the early days, lent by residents of the Hutt Valley and Wellington. The Aquarium Society and the Cage-bird Society will make displays of rare fishes and birds. FOR THIS EVENING. This evening, there is to be a boxing and gymnastic display by pupils of H. Larsen and W. Hedberg and the V.M.C.A. gymnasts, and the side-shows will be open.
