BUSINESS IMPROVES

"Evening Post," February 1. Most sections of the market showed improvement this' week on business done when the Exchanges resumed. Government Loans showed, signs of easing in price, but War Loan is in good demand. Bank and insurance shares kept steady. New Zealand . industrial shares were firm for leading lines. (1940----43), £101 17s 6d; 4 per cent. (1943-46), £103 15s, £103 12s 6d; 4 per cent: (1946-49), £103 15s;-4 per cent. (1948), £103 10s; 4 per cent. (1949-52), £104 10s; 4:per cent. (1952-55), £104 10s. Sales of 3J State Advances (1944) were at £99. Company debentures in the sales were 5 per cent. Auckland Gas (perpetual), £99 and (1949) £101. 4£ per cent. N.Z.
