(By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright.) (Received January 18, 2.20 p.m.) TOKIO, January 17. The leading newspapers "Asahi," "Niclii Nlchi," and . "Yomiuri". attacked Mr. Cordeir Hull's speech to the United States Foreign Affairs Committee, which they described as an outrageous distortion of Japan's policies and a clear-cut war challenge to the Axis.
The "Asahi Shimbun" said that Mr. Matsuoka (Foreign Minister) at the reopening of the Diet next week would make a formal reply to the "United States disregard of realities in East Asia."
