REASON FOR COURTESY
Reference to the courteous treatment accorded by the officers and crews of German raiders to captives taken from various sunken ships was made by most of the survivors interviewed. "I think they realise their number will soon be up and that if they treat prisoners well it may help them' when their own time comes," said one man.
