GORSE FIRES

Two gorse fires received attention from the Wellington Fire Brigade yesterday. The larger of the two consumed four or five acres of gorse in Homebush Road, Khandallah, and kept seven firemen busy for three hours before it was extinguished, at about 8 p.m. The other was only a minor blaze at the top of Rose Street. Wadestown, where three brigadesmen spent only a few minutes during the afternoon.
