N.Z. IMPORT RESTRICTIONS

Regret that New Zealand is persisting its policy of import restrictions is expressed by a big firm of Birmingham manufacturers in the course of a letter to their Wellington representative. Writing under date November 21. 1940. the firm says:—

"We seem to be getting it in the neck both ways. Your Government will not allow us to ship our goods to New Zealand, and our Government, in order to force manufacturers to export all they possibly can, will only permit us to supply our home trade customers with one-third value of the goods purchased in the same period last year."
