CHURCH MUSIC

In concluding the summer school of Catholic Church music at St. Patrick's College last evening. Mr. Foster Browne spoke t^ an audience of choirmasters, choir members, organists, and others on choir work generally, particularly male voice choirs.

Introducing the lecturer, Father L. Dignan, chairman of the church music commission, said that Mr. Browne, was engaged in the training of the choir, boys and men, of the Anglican Cathedral in Christchurch, a choir which was well known as one of the b?st in Australia and New Zealand.

Earlier in the day Mr. Browne dealt with the subject of training of boys, and spoke on exercises for more advanced boys, how to teach them tempo and reading at sight, and gradually to sing up the scale as well as down. He referred to the urgent need of careful enunciation.
