OBITUARY
SIR JOHN LAVERY
LONDON, January 10.
The death has occurred of Sir John Lavery, the artist. President of the Royal Society of Painters since 1932, he was born at Belfast in 1856, His pictures are scattered through many galleries in Europe and America, and he was a member of most of the great art societies. .
The late Sir John Lavery had been president of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters since 1932 and was a member of the *loyal Academies of Antwerp, Milan, Rome, Brussels, and Stockholm, and of the Societe Nationale dcs Beaux-Arts, Paris. He was also a member of Berlin, Munich, Vienna, and Madrid Art Societies. Many of his pictures are displayed in the public galleries of Europe and America,
