NAZI DOCTRINE
BELIEF IN FUHRER
"SCRIPTURES DEAD"
PAGAN SERVICE
LONDON, January 12
The Germans have chosen Sunday for another attack on Christianity, and a statement of what they call the "creed of our time." Breslau radio, broadcasting to Germans in Silesia, said they believed in the Fuhrer.
"We believe in youth, we believe in the nobility of our people, and the righteousness of our arms and flag; in God who stands by the brave," the broadcast stated. It added: "But what about the old creed; what about the Scriptures? The Scriptures are dead. The creed of our times draws from the source of past ages, but we need no fairy tales."
While this broadcast was going on, Munich radio was telling listeners in Bavaria about German piety. This broadcast was a kind of pagan Sunday service dealing mostly with the mythical conception of the Reich. For instance, "The Reich cannot be defined by mere words; we must believe in the Reich." Then came the statement: "Belief in immortality is actually nothing but the conviction that our deeds and sacrifices will live for ever in the nation."
So says the Nazi radio, added a London commentator.
