COLLAPSE OF HOUSES

ISTANBUL, January 12
Intermittent earthquake shocks shook western Anatolia and did heavy damage in Smyrna. Many houses collapsed and the panic-stricken population fled to the fields. No casualties; have been reported.
Slight tremors were continuing in the Smyrna district at noon today after a strong shake last night. In the village of Dehigrmendere nine houses collapsed and 25 were damaged
