YOUTH KILLED
TRAIN HITS VAN

DUNEDIN, This Day
David Alexander Owens, aged 14, was killed on Saturday when a baker's delivery van, driven by Albert Alexander Hastie, collided with a train at Green Island. The engine struck the side of the van on which Owens was sitting. He and the driver were thrown into a ditch. Owens received a fractured skull.
