Apparently some seamen were shooting at the range which forms part of the amusements, and after they had finished shooting one of the party picked up a rifle to test its weight and balance. L nfortun^tely, unknown to him, the rifle was loaded, and it went off, the bullet striking Mr Harris in the left side of the chest. He was immediately taken to hospital, and an operation was performed, but he died shortly before 11 a.m. today.
