PAIRS BOWLING
POST-SECTION PI *?
FOUR ROUNDS IN PROGRESS
MORNING RESULTS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, This Day
Eighty pairs went forward to the post-section 'games at the New Zealand bowling championships today, which had been narrowed down to a fourth of its total. Play was on the sudden death system, a loss putting the team out, so only forty pairs survived after the opening game this morning. The weather was cool and overcast, with a light north-easterly breeze.
The greens are standing up well to hard play and were again fast and drawing well.
At the end of the four games today, five players will be left in. Owing to the nature of the draw the winners of sections D and E will then have to play their fifth round and the winners of this game will go forward to the semi-finals.
The results of this morning's play were as follows: —
Blenheim (Radd and Martella) 18; Dunedin (Rigby and Hutchison) 14. Karori (Dyett and Gilbert) 21; Woolston (Fraser and Baxendall) 11. Elmwood (Bryant and Featherston) 15; Balmacewen (Hindle and Macdonald) 12. Christchurch (Seed and Dey) 16; Wellington (Smith and Newson) 15. North End (Invercargill) (Hewitt and Hay) 18; Edgeware (Hayman and Smith) 12 Opawa (Paterson and Hey) 27; Tainui (Dunedin) (McLean and Dale) 13. Ashburton (Davidson and Finn) 22; Spreydon (Sellers and Moss) 15. Ponsonby (Jury and McClymont) 24; United (Broughton and Reese) 14.
