A gallant rescue by a Wellington College student, John Edward Haast, saved a young man, Ross Patton, from drowning at Tokaanu today. Patton, diving from the wharf, landed heavily on his stomach and-was in immediate distress. A companion went in fully clothed to render .assistance, but through fatigue was forced to abandon his ( effort. Haast then dived into 12 feet of water and brought Patton to the surface. ~ ,
