HEROISM OF FIRE SERVICES
(Received December 31, 11 a.m.) LONDON, December 30. The London roof watchers proved their worth as never before. Buildings in this district which had spotters and their own A.R.P. personnel were soon freed of fire-bombs without damage. The spotters alsd: did valuable workj in directing the firemen to fire-bombs on roofs hidden from .the streets. The regular and auxiliary firemen] braved intense heat and falling walls, | and many had miraculous - escapes. Others died at their work. Some 'were killed and injured when buildings.collapsed. .W
