WITHOUT LAWFUL EXCUSE
John Male, a wharf labourer, aged 71, who appeared before Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today, charged with being without lawful excuse in a Harbour Board shed, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within three months. It was stated that Male had been found in the bathroom of the shed. He had been previously warned not to go there, as the shed was for the use of union members only. Male was entitled to go to the shed when he was a union member, but he was not now a member. Male, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, said that he paid 2s for a key in 1911, and claimed that possession of the key entitled him to use the shed.
