VALONA BOMBED
R.A.F. HELPS GREEKS
SHIPS MACHINE-GUNNED
VISIT TO NAPLES
LONDON, December 30.
In Albania the R.A.F. yesterday continued its support of the Greek array by two bombing raids on the port of Valona. In the first raid, the twenty-first on Valona, British bombers saw bombs exploding among Italian troops moving along a road near a jetty. A large building was hit and set on fire.
In the second raid, which was carried out in bad weather, more hiis were made on buildings near transport docks and military stores. While circling over the harbour the bombers saw four Italian ships, including troopships. They dived down and machine-gunned all four ships. One of the British machines was shot down, but two members of the crew were seen descending by parachute.
On the return flight a formation of enemy bombers was seen and was fired at but the enemy escaped in the clouds before the results could be observed.
Last night Naples also was bombed. The Italians admit the attack, and say that bombs as well as leaflets were dropped. This is confirmed in London, and it is believed that the leaflets were copies of Mr. Churchill's speech branding JVTussolini as the man who brought Italy into the war.
