INCREASING NORTHERLIES
Special forecast for Wellington:—
I Southerly winds decreasing tonight, and northerlies freshening jomewhat tomorrow. Weather fair to fine, with gradually rising temperatures. The further outlook is for a conj tinuance of fair and mild weather, | but the northerlies are likely to become strong. The general forecast for the Dominion is for mainly moderate winds, southerly directions pfedominat-1 ing over the North Island and northerly over the South Island. The weather will be fair to fine and mild, with morning cloud. j Pressure has continued high over the New Zealand area in spite of the! passage eastward of a weak trough. In most places yesterday morning the j weather was fine and warm, although there was low cloud early, and winds j were moderate and variable. Cool and fresh southerlies, however, advanced rapidly over the South Island during the day and were blowing over the North Island by this morning. A little light rain accompanied the change in the far soiath. This morning it was cloudy on parts of the east coast of the South Island, where winds were freshening from the north-east. -
Yesterday's weather was fair in the four main centres. In Auckland and Wellington it was warm. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Wellington were 74.8 degrees and 55.2 degrees. It was one of the warmest days this summer. Dunedin had a cool and strong south-westerly wind all day, and it reached Christchurch during the nfternoon.
