BRABIN SHIELD MATCH
The Canterbury and Wellington junior cricket representatives are to commence their match for the Brabin Shield at the Basin Reserve tomorrow.
AUCKLAND AT WANGANUI
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, December 30. The weather was perfect today for the cricket match between the Auckland touring side and a Wanganui representative team. Winning the toss, Wanganui batted first and scored 202 runs. S. Nimmo, a Wanganui Technical College player, batted impressively for 60 not out and was top scorer for his side. C. Burke, the Auckland slow bowler, took five wickets for 52 runs.
Excellent bowling by H. B. Cave, a Wanganui Collegiate • School player, and W. Dyhrberg, an old boy of Wellington College, held the Auckland batsmen in check, and at stumps the visitors had nine wickets down for 176. V. Scott, the Auckland Plunket Shield player, was top scorer with 40. Cave took five wickets for 44 runs and Dyhrberg two for 8, Play continues tomorrow.
