THE BURMA ROAD
PLANS FOR A RAILWAY
LONDON, December 20.
The Secretary for India, Mr. Amery, lias announced that plans for a railway linking Burma and China are now being considered. At present the only means of communication between the two countries is the famous Burma Road, along which war materials and supplies are being sent to the Chinese forces under General Chiang Kai-shek. If the railway is built, these supplies will be greatly Speeded up. It will also give much feasier access to valuable raw materials Which China exports to the United States and Britain.
