(British Official Wireless.?
(Received December 21, 10.45 a.m.)
RUGBY, December 20,
Commenting on Mr. Churchill's review of the situation before the House of Commons adjourned for -the Christmas recess, the "Daily Telegraph" asks: "Can military history show any other - example of such destruction of
an army and such captures of prisoners and materials with so little loss to the conquering troops?"
"The Times" echoes the Premier's tributes to General Wavell, Sir Maitland Wilson, and Air Chief Marshal Sir Arthur Longmore, citing Mr. Churchill's phrase that General Wavell's figure' "grows upon the eastern horizon and rises there to. the very great pleasure and encouragement of all people over here who look eagerly to see the arrival upon the scene of this, war of military, naval, and air figures to whom the armies and the people can give their enthusiasm."
