RECORD MAIL LOAD

AOTEAROA FROM SYDNEY

A record amount of 15701b of mail as well as 1201b of freight-and 11 passengers were brougM by the flyingboat Aoteaxoaf-^irteh. arrived from Sydney early this afternoon.

Captain Garden, who was in command, reported a normal trip.

The air mail consisted of 65 bags and included a substantial quantity from New Zealand soldiers in the Middle East. Postal officials reported that the total of 15701b was easily a record, being far in excess of the quantity carried on any previous occasion.

The whole of the passengers, as well as part of the mail and freight, are for destinations north of New Zealand, and will continue by the next clipper of Pan-American Airways. Passengers were Mrs. L. Rabot, Captain P. G. Taylor, Captain L. J. Brain, Messrs. A. G. Paterson, O. L. Luiggi, A. G. Gutteridge, M. M. Clairmond, R. W. Jones, M. F. Sultan, and Mr. and Mrs. F. Wassing.
