Christmas in the Ring

MY MERRY ELVES: Tonight the Ring is gay with your greetings cards bringing good wishes from pixie people all over our island . . . names we have not seen for many long months, but names we remember well. Christmas brings all the Ring together again, for everyone wishes to take part in the ancient festival. It has been like opening a Christmas stocking every morning of the week to find your cards and small gifts. Those you made and decorated yourselves were a special delight, and the Elf and I thank you again and again. The Christmas tree, pohutukawa, says "Merry Christmas" with fires of blood-red blossoms. You'll see them when you take the holiday trails beside our still lakes or in and out of sleepy bays. Even the singing birds seem to wake us with "Christmas is here! Christmas is here!" Half a world away there may be snow and much sadness, but there is the holly of hope, too, and in the sunny peace of our New Zealand Christmas, we'll hope that very soon will come the peace and good will of which the Angels sang in Bethlehem. The Merriest, Happiest Christmas to you all! - ■ ■ ■- - *' ■ , FMBIEL?
