NIGGER BOY CASE
BOTH APPEALS DISMISSED
The; appeal by Benjamin. Nausbaum, of Palmerston North, against the decision of the Canterbury District Committee^ disqualifying him for life, was heard in Wellington yesterday by the New Zealand Racing Conference judges, Messrs. W. Perry, M.L.C., J. R. I*. Stanford, and H. R. Peacock.
Nausbaum had been found guilty of a corrupt practice, the offering of money to tiie rider of another horse in a race in. which his own horse, Nigger Boy, was engaged. The race was the Members' Handicap at the Cup Meeting, on-November 16, and it was won by Nigger >Boyj , ■'! - Having heard Mr. E. Hardie Boys, counsel for appellant, and Mr. A. T. Donnelly, counsel for the ..Canterbury District Committee, and me evidence adduced before them, and having read all the evidence given before the Canterbury .District Committee, the judges unanimously dismissed the appeal and ordered the deposit of £20 lodged by appellant to be forfeited.
Syiupns., Nausbaum, Wellington, who is in - partnership with his son, appealed against the disqualification of the horses raced by the partnership. Appellant was represented by Mr. W. Ei Leicester. The appeal was unanimously dismissed, but the judges ordered that appellant's deposit of £20 be refunded.
