SPLENDID SPIRIT

MAKERS OF SHIPS & ARMS

(British Official Wireless.) (Received December 21, 11 a.m.)

RUGBY, December 20,

The First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. Alexander, inspected the bombed areas at Sheffield, and congratulated the citizens on the way they had stood up to one of the heaviest attacks yet experienced in this country. He said it was most encouraging to find such a magnificent spirit amongst the workers and to find them again at work. "I say to them," he added, "that their efforts will provide the ships, guns, and projectiles which will in the end give us victory. Seapower will be decisive."
