WEYGAND INTERVIEWED
NEW YORK, December 11
Jay Allen, correspondent of the North American newspaper. Alliance, interviewed General Weygand for the first time in French Morocco.
"I am displeased with the trend of British and American propaganda about my journey to Africa," said General Weygand. "I do not like the disagreeable word 'propaganda,' but I object to the creation of the impression that there is a lack of harmony between Marshal Petain's politics and my own. I am here to serve my country, which is Petain incarnated. There, is only one France.
"I have been delegated to command French Africa and maintain the union of French Africa and metropolitan France. Africa is one with France, and Weygand is one with Petain."
