CHRISTMAS TRUCE
Mr. Churchill Says "No"
NAZIS DENY PEACE MOVE*
LONDON, November 26
Mr. Churchill today made it quite clear that there is no thought in Britain of calling off the war temporarily, even if Germany's thoughts are turned towards that possibility, when he declared in the House of Commons that Britain would never consider even the possibility of a Christmas truce. Asked if he would approach the Vatican orsome other neutral State to arrange a Christinas armistice, he replied "No." Any such proposal from a neutral State would, he said/be rejected.
The* Germans, without any particular reason so far as is known outside Berlin, today proclaimed rather loudly that Herr Hitler was not planning a peace offensive. The official German news agency was brought in to demolish reports which, according to Berlin have appeared recently in Americareports to the effect that Germany was planning to secure a compromise peace. "Such reports," stated the German news agency, "are entirely withotit foundation."
