BRITAIN DETERMINED
ISOLATED ITALIAN ARMIES
CONCERN IN ROME
LONDON,. November 26.
British determination to free Abyssinia from the Italian invaders had striking proof today. While British troops are hitting Italians across the Abyssinian border, our patrols are active against them in the area east of Gajlabat and northeast of Kassala.
The British Government has reaffirmed its intention of helping all Abyssinians who have taken up arms against the common enemy.
Mr. R. A. Butler, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, in Parliament today, said Britain has no claims on Abyssinia. The Government's wish was tnat the country should be free and independent, and we intended to give Abyssinia every help to achieve that freedom.
Reports coming from Borne show that the isolation in which the Italian armies find themselves in north-east Africa is causing growing concern in Italy. Supplies were gathered for a short war, and the Royal Air Force raids on the stores have greatly reduced them.
