BOMBS AT DURAZZO
PILOTS' ACCOUNTS
DIRECT HITS ON TARGETS
(British Official Wireless.)
(Received November 27, 9 a.m.)
RUGBY, November 26,
A flight lieutenant who led one formation which attacked Durazzo, said: "It was one of the most successful raids my flight has made. We got dead over the target and dropped bombs smack on the docks and the shipping alongside. One salvo fell among some barges, one of which was blown clean out of the water. My observer saw it upside down."
Another pilot stated: "We came down through a hole in a cloud-bank over the harbour. The anti-aircraft fire was very heavy, but we went through and found the targets. I saw two heavy bombs explode dead in the centre of a big ship, and another was on fire."
