GALLOPING AT AWAPUNI (Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N. f This Day. Awapuni stables are well represented at Feilding on Saturday, and the semifinal gallops were carried out under perfect conditions. The course proper, with the flags out near the outside fence, was open, and the going was good without being fast. Old Bill worked over a mile on the plough, registering even time except for the last three furlongs which he cut out in 40£ sec. He is very fit. Nigger Boy was given a working gallop over five furlongs. His recent racing has done him no harm. Cherry Bay and Old Surrey galloped I a mile. They ran the first five furlongs in Imin 9sec and then came home easily together to complete in Imin 54sec. Play On and Rose Acre were given a similar task, running the first five in Imin 10 3-ssec. ; Waimutu sprinted five furlongs in jlmin B£sec, and Sir Rabbi and War Credit were timed to run half a mile in 54 2-ssec, the last three in 39sec. Jumna broke 40sec for the last three of five furlongs run in Imin 10 2-5 sec. Dainty Sue came home in 39£ sec to complete five in Imin 9£sec. Drake's Drum and Greek Step were together and going easily after half a mile in 53 3-ssec. Premature came home in 53 4-ssee. Golden Moon, looking none the worse for her winning run at Levin on Saturday, was going easily at the end of three furlongs in 39sec. Stairway, the.Spiral—Veil colt which will race in Mr. G. M. Curries colours, worked over half a mile in 55sec, breaking 40sec for the last three. He is a stylish colt with an effortless action. Catalogue, looking a picture of health, was worked on a lead, and Chary was given easy exercise, showing little trace of his injury.
