MEDICAL BENEFITS
EARLY START POSSIBLE
Steps are likely to ba taken by the Government to expedite the bringing into effect of the general medical benefits provided for in the Social Security Act. It is understood that some positive move in this direction is at present contemplated by the Government, but so far caucus has not been given any details as to what is proposed January 1 has been mentioned as the date from which the benefits will operate, but this has not been determined.
■ When the question was placed before the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser) today, he had no comment to make beyond stating that the matter had not been discussed or decided by caucus. "It will, however, be dealt with within the next day or two," added Mr. Fraser.
