CAROL AND "WIFE"

SPAIN'S HOSPITALITY IF—

MADRID, November 7. King Michael of Rumania told his father, ex-King Carol, by telephone, that he had instructed General Antonescu to terminate the extradition proceedings against Madame Lupescu. General Franco subsequently sent a message to King Carol that he had nothing to fear provided he refrained from all political activity. He and his wife could continue to enjoy Spain's hospitality. LONDON, November 7. A search of the marriage entries in Somerset House for the past 20 years has revealed no record of the wedding of King Carol and Madame Lupescu. Madame Lupescu accompanied King Carol on a visit to London in 1928, but the Government asked them to leave after three weeks.

It was reported from Madrid that in an attempt to save Madame Lupescu from extradition to Rumania, King Carol' was alleged to have admitted that they were married in London some years ago.
