BOOTS AND SHOES
COST OF REPAIRS
TRIBUNAL FIXES THE RATES
The maximum prices which may be charged for various types of boot and shoe repair work were notified in a price order issued by the Price Investigation Tribunal, last night. The prices stated- in the order are maximum prices and in some cases are below the present prices ruling in certain districts. The order is issued so that the price of repairs throughout New Zealand may be stabilised at a figure which'will allow the repairer a reasonable return for his labour and at the same time protect the public from exploitation. With the published authorised prices before them, the public will know if an undue charge is being made, and it is hoped that should any overcharges be detected they will be brought to the notice of the Tribunal. Among the full range of prices listed are the following:—Men's: Half soled and heeled, 9s (sewn), 8s (riveted); half-soled only, 7s 6d (sewn), 6s 6d (riveted); heeled or shaped rubbers, 2s 9d; full soles and heels (sewn), 13s 6d. Women's: Half-soled and heeled, "7s (sewn), 6s (riveted); half-soled only, 6s (sewn), 5s (riveted); pumps soled and heeled, 9s 6d; pumps soled only, 8s 6d; shoes heeled, Is 6d. ,
