BALKAN OUTLOOK

(By Teleeraph—l'ress Association—Copyrtcht.i

(Received November 1, 2.10 p.m.)

LONDON, October 31

Reports of an organised revolt in Albania are generally discounted, but Albanian passive resistance to the Italians is spreading, especially in the south, while attempts of further mobilisation of Albanians in the north have been abandoned.

The Greeks are incensed by the Italian use of planes bearing Greek distinguishing marks.

Informed circles in Ankara, Sofia, and Berlin agree that Turkey will not enter the war between Italy and Greece unless Bulgaria attacks Greece or Turkey's interests are endangered. Bulgarians and Germans declared that Bulgaria will remain neutral. It is reported from Bucharest that fast German troop trains are traversing the Rumanian province of Banat and that there are heavy movements of German war supplies on the TimisoaraBrasov railway. The 110 bodies so far recovered following the first air raid on Patras on October 28. include those of a priest, of a police official. 30 women, and 45 children. Two hundred bombs destroyed numerous buildings, none of which was a military objective.

The Italian bombing of Naupactus killed a woman and injured eight civilians.

Both the Russians and the Greeks now deny that Soviet planes were sent to Greece. The original agency report is not amplified.
